The two-men studio Card Dungeon Games has released a new trailer unveiling gameplay footage of its upcoming mash-up titled Card Dungeon.
As the title suggests, Card Dungeon is a hybrid game that brings the dungeon-crawler roguelike, strategic turns and moves of a board game and diverse cards together, wrapped in beautifully drawn, randomly generated levels.
Players are given three cards to start off in a level but can use one at a time. In fact, the gist of the game mechanics is to make one action per turn, whether it is to move a step, attack, defend, cast magic, heal or summon. Players will get a new card when they defeat a monster or open a treasure chest, and they need to make the decision of switching it with one in hand or discarding it.
In-game card variety is plentiful and categorized as items, skills and traits. With different cards discovered, players can equip their character with varying weapons or alter their present hero on the board into a different battle style. From a spell-caster to a melee fighter to a teleporting fire starter, different trait cards will influence the character’s attack stats, health, loot found and more.
It features randomly generated levels so that every play is different. As players explore on the grid-based map, they need to clear one area to unveil the adjacent rooms previously shrouded in dark.
Card Dungeon is set to release on iPad and other hand-held devices on October 1, 2014.
