Rocketcat Games and Madgarden announced their collaborated development on Death Road to Canada a couple of years ago. After it missed its intended release date in October of last year, the game seems to fade out of the public with scare information leaked out. But it shows up again out of nowhere, releasing a brand new trailer as “the start of the public Death Road videos”.
Death Road to Canada is a survival adventure game set in world threatened by zombie apocalypse. In it, your task is to guide a group of five survivors to travel from Florida to Canada and your goal is to keep at least one of them alive when you make it. During the cross-the-border journey, you will break through large hordes of zombies and scavenge for supplies at different locations and buildings and if possible gather other survivors there.
As implied from the trailer, you will be able to control different characters and use weapons like bats and machine guns to turn zombies around into a cloud of dark goos. You are always obviously outnumbered and chased or blocked by zombies. The randomly generated maps with limited visual areas add extra risks and excitement in the scavenge. One interesting thing in the game is the environmental object – you can move a table near the door to slow down approaching zombies or throw a chair to smash one or two enemies.
There is still no set release date for Death Road to Canada. Its PC version that will be on Steam seems to be in the near-completion phase. And the iOS version is planned to come out about one month later after the Steam release.
