Campo Santo & Panic Inc.
Firewatch is a single-player exploratory adventure video game set in the Wyoming wilderness where you play as Henry, the fire lookout who observes the world from his isolated watchtower and connects with the outside only through his handheld radio with his supervisor named Delilah. But the lonely yet safe life comes to end when you start to question something happening to you and come out of the perch to explore the dangerous wilderness looking for answers but only walking into a bigger mystery with threats, conspiracy and choices.
Firewatch lays great emphasis on the narrative and storytelling. As Henry explores the world he runs into different incidents where he needs to decide how he responds. And he can contact Delilah for her opinion or support. All these will define what he is and how his relationship with Delilab develops and then define where this story goes. It will be a story about two isolated persons; it will involve real concepts like intimacy, hatred and betrayal; and it will be more than that.
Firewatch is now early in its development at Campo Santo, a small but full-star studio made of industry veterans that have made many hot video games including Bioshock II, The Walking Dead: Season 1 and The Cave and so on. Except the story premise, the developers haven’t revealed more and they do so intentionally to keep the mystery story a mystery to be unveiled and lived by players.
Firewatch will come to Windows, Mac and Linux in 2015. There is the possibility of landing on console or any other platforms afterwards.
Firewatch now has an official website where you can read a brief story and find FAQ. http://www.firewatchgame.com/
