Halfbrick Studios announced the first massive update ever for their creative fruit-slicing Fruit Ninja since its original release on the App Store back in 2010. When the huge update finally comes in early October, the world of Fruit Ninja will get a new streamlined menu system, the leaderboards and cool gameplay effects of dojos and blades and so on.
According to Halfbrick, they rebuilt this game from scratch with this forthcoming patch. Of all new features, the newly added effects of some locations and weapons are one highlight. Previously cosmetic, dojos and blades will be bringing real gameplay effects in the updated version of Fruit Ninja, which will consequently add a new layer of depth and strategy in slicing. For example, up to 10 random fruit will be spawn in the Great Wave dojo, while a tornade will swirl over the board when the Autumn Blade cuts pineapples. And the newly added Leaderboards will display players’ use of item combos.
Moreover, Halfbrick is giving players a quick glance of the upcoming new chapter with five webisodes that are released over the coming weeks. The first short video is already available, featuring a young hero Katsuro in training and a lovely strawberry-loving piggy. Besides videos, players will be able to follow the updates in the Fruit Ninja website.
