Magic Kitchen tasks you with the harvest of the ripe vegetables in the garden beds.
Magic Kitchen has the classic set-up in many match-3 puzzlers. It requires you to switch adjacent tiles to make matches of three or more like-colored vegetables. The game is level-based and objective-oriented. Based on the different goals, you may need to gather ingredients, bring down items like pepper shakers and defeat the boss (the wicked Dr. Yolk) at the end of each map to unlock new playable zones, within limited moves or time. And variety unravels as new levels as well as special tiles like the caterpillars and buds of carnivorous flowers inside show up.
Boosters are still mainstay and become available in Magic Kitchen early. There are five types of boosters, generic in their functions and fresh in the effect visuals. Shaman’s Drum gives a double bonus to all vegetables required for collection, and it does such by summoning a storm; and Locust helps gather an entire row of vegetables by gnawing through it leaving a leaf trail, for example.
Besides the effects of boosters, the facial looks of diverse vegetables also add certain personality to the gameplay. There are the ha-ha watermelons, squatting eggplants with protruding teeth, the weird creature-looking potatoes and so on. Of them, I personally like the jaw-dropping peppers best as if they are scared to be touched. Big matches of these tiles create special powerful species of them that can stretch vines to clear a row or a column, blast off to take away surrounding veggies or spark certain energy to harvest at random. These effects are rendered beautifully, too.
Magic Kitchen is filled with cutesy and variety. It prepares hours of fun with an expansive colorful world. And it is a wonderful choice for casual fans.[Play Now]
