Sydney-based Epiphany Games announced the first season of their episodic thriller RPG series titled Majestic Nights is under development and will be coming late 2014 for PC & Mac and iOS &Android.
Majestic Nights is set in an alternate 1980s where conspiracy theories from shadowy government and CIA experiments to sinister plots and alien sightings are all true. In this conspiracy world, players will explore and investigate multiple cases for clues and they can shift their roles between Cardholder, “an intelligence operative who may or may not have been present at or even responsible for many of the biggest conspiracy events in history” and Cal, “a humble private investigator whose own past is shrouded in secrets unknown even to herself”.
According to Morgan Lean, CEO OF Epiphany Games in the press release, Majestic Nights is designed to fulfill its another responsibility besides entertaining.
“People walk around knowing all the facts and yet not seeing the Truth. So if the only way to package the actual reality of the situation is as entertainment, then it’s our responsibility to do exactly that!”
Majestic Nights: Season One will be a complete story shipped in six chapters separately. It will be a premium title. But the developer will release a FREE prologue called ‘Chapter Zero – Sunset After Dark’ where players act as Cardholder to investigate a case around the truth of the moon landing.
That free prologue will be launched in September 2014, followed by the other six chapters of the core story in the coming months. Every episode will carry a price or players can buy a season pass. [Developer Site]
