Indie developer Ben “Torahhorse” Esposito just announced his new creation Donut County, a wacky physics puzzler wrapped in a narrative about a young girl, raccoon, donuts and a mysterious hole.
Originally titled Kachina, Donut County sees players controlling a hole that grows bigger as it swallows more. From blades of grass to bottles, from mouse traps to hays, players will move around the world, consuming almost everything and doing so in the right order and at the right time. And the hole is also able to regurgitate to solve puzzles.
With the name change, Donut County reveals its narrative more explicitly. The story premise has a young girl working in a donut shop unwittingly opens holes all around the county as she eats donuts delivered by a raccoon.
Ben Esposito has developed Donut County solo for two years with support from Indie Fund. It is not finished yet and set to release for “home computers and touch devices”.
