An endless runner starring Forrest Gump has launched on the App Store. Officially named Run Forrest Run, this infinite runner boasts a special three-lane journey as Gump runs in the countryside of Alabama, Route 66 and beyond.
Every run is not like any other. In Run Forrest Run you control Gump to shift among three lanes, jump and slide to avoid deadly crash with upcoming vehicles and other hazards while collecting as many coins as possible along the way. Every now and then, special items will appear and can be gathered to gain certain advantages.
Hop on the lawn mower to blast through all obstacles, pick up the shrimp net to draw coins automatically, jump into the glider to soar above avoiding barriers while getting easy coins, or collect the mystery box that may surprise you with anything from helmets to chocolates. These useful boosters are not only collectible in your path but also can be upgraded and expanded in power in the in-game shop by spending coins.
In-game control is based on tapping and swiping and felt pretty tight. Run Forrest Run starts mellow to ease you in and then increases the intensity and difficulty mile by mile to keep it interesting. You can always expect greater challenge ahead and are better well-prepared to ride the tide. When you have a crash and die, you can start over or continue the journey by consuming a Cake, like the premium currency, or sometimes coins.
With every run, you are comparing with your own best record and/or friends’ if you connect to FB. Run Forrest Run also prepares multiple missions, generic missions that ask you to jump and switch lanes certain times or reach a specific number of miles. Completed missions reward you coins and charge up a multiplier bar. When hit multiplier 5, you can unlock the next zone Route 66. Otherwise, you can only access to this zone by using 50 Cakes.
Run Forrest Run follows the established pattern of this genre and is not truly different from many endless running titles out there except for its special Forrest theme. It just had a soft launch available in the NZ App Store at the time of writing. [Download]
