Tank Battle: East Front (TBEF) is a game series that features the confrontation between the Red Army and the Wehrmacht on the Russian front during the World War II. From TBEF 1941 to TBEF 1945, this franchise includes five separate titles, each focusing on big battles of that year. And now it has a new entry named Tank Battle: East Front Lite.
As implied by the title, Tank Battle: East Front Lite is an assortment of the five previous titles. It is more of a promotional sum-up than a fully-fledged standalone. It only offers five free missions, each from one year, where you play as the Germans to fight with the AI Soviet enemies.
Whether it is to capture all control points or to safely escort the supply truck to the destination, every mission has a detailed briefing of the background and generally contains more than one goal to complete. Destroy enemy army, win the battle before the end of turn 15, keep over 80% of your army alive and so on. These side tasks offer more challenge and another reason for replay besides the three difficulty levels.
You can unlock a new mission only after you complete the previous one. And when you finish the Lite campaign and crave for more, you have the five TBEF titles in the purchase list. Solo campaign aside, Tank Battle: East Front Lite also provides two scenarios where you can play with a friend on the same device as opposing sides.
Tank Battle: East Front Lite is more suitable for players who haven’t played any games of this franchise. It offers a detailed tutorial that covers all basics from move & fire to infantry units & tanks to flank strategies. Combined with the extra info from in-game Help, it is a good starting point for strategy fans. Free and lite it is – you can get a glimpse of the turn-based combat and decide whether its premium titles worth buying. [App Link]
