Daedalic Entertinament, the German developer behind the Deponia game series, is working on a new adventure game based on the best-selling novel The Pillars of the Earth written by Ken Follett as well as the TV adaptation aired in 2010.
Initially published in 1989, The Pillars of the Earth is a historical book series that explores the conflicts between clergy, nobility and townfolk about the construction of a cathedral in the fictional city of Kingsbridge and people’s struggle for survival in an anarchical England. It is hard to imagine how these historical materials will inspire an adventure game, but Daedalic has past experience in developing games based on historical fictions like the Tudors and Robin Hood. So who knows.
The Pillars of the Earth the adventure game is announced for PC/Mac, PS 4, Xbox One and iOS and scheduled to come out in 2017. Interested players can follow the game’s development progress at Daedalic’s Facebook page.
