Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past is a side-scrolling platform adventure based off the original Days of Future Past issues.
The story premise of the game starts with the murder of Senator Kelly that rouses misplaced hatred to mutants and mankind’s blind support for their true threat Sentinel Robots. To save themselves and humans, the X-men have to re-write the history, coming the past and fighting to prevent the assassination of Kelly.
In Uncanny X-Men you firstly play as Wolverine in a hurry to head towards the Rendez-Vous Point. In the post-apocalyptic New York streets you take down patrolling enemies, smash blocks in the way and collect all tech containers. You can clear the first stage with ease, for the major task is to get familiar with the game mechanics and control. You control your mutant by tapping and/or holding several buttons to move forward/backward, attack, jump, and perform a special attack or double jump in the air. When you clear a stage you get rewards based on the enemies killed, containers & lore collected and combat proficiency. And you can enter the next scenario.
More playable characters will be unlocked as the story unravels. Shadowcat appears in an abandoned subway, while Cyclops, Colossus and more will join the battle at different stages. While the basic move is all the same, every mutant still has his/her special abilities. And you can upgrade their unique skills in preparation for greater challenge in latter scenes. Swarms of tougher thugs and big bosses await in latter scenes from the Mutant Interment Camp to the Master Mold Chamber.
If you are a perfectionist you are likely to replay a scene to make sure it’s one hundred percent cleared. But if you are a fan of the comics, you have another reason to do so: the hidden Lore. Scattered in obscure spots of in-game stages are a number of X-Men comic covers, Bios and game concept art. Want to take a behind-the-scene look at this game’s original drawings or get to know the characters from the Days of Future Past story? Then you want to leave no corner unexplored.
Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past does not require internet connection to play. Nor does it have additional IAP. [iTune Link]
